Honey Pixels: INSTAX Sessions - Guam Boudoir Photographer
I got the inspiration to create this session because of a client, Miss B. She brought up if I had a instax camera I can possibly use during her session to capture a moment during her session for her to keep after while she waited for her reveal day. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the polaroid camera with me during her session but I mentioned to her that I can print some for her during her reveal when she chose her package.
After that, an idea started brewing in my head that I can possibly incorporate the polaroid into a session or… Create an entire experience for clients that meshes film and digital.
These were my inspiration for the new type of session:

I got obsessed with the idea that it consumed for a weeks. I immediately ordered the Instax Wide 300 film camera and a bunch of Instax Wide Film Sheets. However, when I got the camera… I realized that the specs of the film camera were horrid for indoor sessions as the best use of the specific instax cameara I had was for outdoors. I felt so deflated.
BUT! I found a youtube tutorial on how to utilize the strobes I had. When I figured out how to use the flash in conjunction with my polaroid cam, I screamed. I immediately asked Miss R to model for me as I wanted to test out the capabilities of the film camera before I moved forward with the series.
The knowledge I had with strobing and the light power helped a lot as I was playing guessing game with the measurement of the life and fall off. I’m so happy with the results of the first ever shots I did with Miss R!!
This first set was done within 15 minutes in the Honey Pixels Guam studio. The pressure for the strobe to work with each click of the shutter was immense but I’m glad that each sheet from a 10 pack developed nicely!
THE REAL FIRST TEST SESSION OF THE SERIES
With the test shots above proving success, I needed to create a scenario of an what an actual INSTAX Session would feel and look. I asked Miss R to model for me again where it was set for 1 hour session with 2 outfits and mixing the instax film camera and my mirrorless camera.
I wanted to mix film + digital for this new and fun experience.
The Instax Boudoir Session adds a nice gift to clients where they leave feeling confident and with a small gift from their session while they way for the digital gallery. They leave with 10 polaroids taken in certain parts of the session.
After the session, the client waits in the Honey Pixels Client Lounge while I scan their polaroids to upload in their private online gallery so they have a digital companion of their polaroids to post online or to keep digitally.
The Instax Boudoir Session is a combination of instax film and digital. It’s a perfect session for a beginner or a seasoned boudoir client! I will be posing and guide you throughout your 1 hour session, taking photos with both my polaroid and my digital camera.
